ARCH1172 Architectural Technologies 2
Construction: Masonry & Timber
The subject was an introduction to masonry, in particular brickwork; and to timber in both natural and engineered forms to develop an initial knowledge and understanding of the physical properties and potential uses of these materials in the making of architecture.
Of particular importance was the development of an appreciation of consequences of design/technology decisions on the character of the architecture, the life cycle of the building, the sustainable use of resources, and, the broader built and societal environment into which the building is to be placed.
