“The Flowstate project was unique to South Bank as it presented an opportunity to revitalise an under-utilised cafés building and transform it into a pavilion to be used for multiple uses – performance, theatre, public space, and passive gathering space.

“The movement of light in the spaces and ‘bringing the outside in’ surpasses our expectations. The clerestory window in the kitchen which gives a view out onto the tree has a far greater impact than anticipated, as does the balcony view from the top of the stairs. Daniel's interpretation of the staircase developed into a visually arresting structure, which we love. Downstairs doesn't heat up on hot days like it used to and good airflow has been achieved with the void louvre windows, another unique feature.”

“We completed a major renovation in 2015 through Stukel Stone. Our ambition to turn our Federation cottage into a light filled contemporary residence with generous proportions and a fusion of tropical and urban influences was translated into a beautiful design. Daniel and Tobhi took our ideas and wishes seriously, discussing and incorporating them into the design and build while always being honest about what would and wouldn't work. Daniel also pushed the boundaries by introducing unexpected ideas. For our renovation this resulted in exciting spaces and features such as a 6 meter high hallway, 'light scoop', and a private balcony in the heart of the home. Stukel Stone's provision of end-to-end services was important to us. From design (indoor and outdoor spaces, kitchen, stairs, joinery etc.), builder selection, project management and more, they delivered above and beyond expectation. Daniel developed a trusting relationship with the builder and knew when it was important to give a push when needed. He also worked well within the constraints of our budget and provided economic alternatives where possible without making concessions to the design.
